Hot stone and olive groves. Cypress on the ridge. A thunderstorm last night.
Cypress at six is the dark upright on the ridge. Petitgrain at eighteen is the olive grove on the slope, not the citrus. Two drops of patchouli is the wet earth from the storm — without them, the blend reads hot but not 'after rain.' Vetiver at three is the soil beneath the stone.
Monte Ingino, above Gubbio, in the morning. The rain came hard last night and everything's still damp — the stone, the earth, the air — and looking down you can see the olive groves and the dark cypress on the ridge. The sun's already hot and burning the wet off. Umbria after a storm.
